Masterpiece music compiled & recorded via skipping CDs, rigged turntables and a whole lot of finesse.

Arthur Boto Conley at work.

Sustainable Skip Storage starts with a simple enough idea; take three damaged and skipping CD's (in this case The Shape of Jazz To Come by Ornette Coleman, Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 by Aphex Twin and a recording of Erik Satie's 3 Gymnopedies) and have their skips recorded and pressed onto three pieces of vinyl, and played simultaneously.

We've simplified the process quite grossly, but this gives an idea of how Thomas Baldischwyler composed these tracks.

The result is somewhere between sound-collage and a high-brow mashup - but most importantly, the outcome is absolutely astonishing. If you can imagine something between the works of Steve Reich and Radiohead's slightly weirder music you're a small part of the way there.

We would strongly suggest not sleeping on this - limited to 210 copies and with a gorgeous etching on one side of the disc, this will at the very least be a super collectible item, and that's even aside from the music contained within.

Highly, highly recommended.
