Batu launches his new Timedance label with a brace of wild techno tracks. After previous releases on Cold and Livity Sound the Bristol based producer was quiet for a while, refining his sound and – the results have been well worth the weight as this plate proves. Batu treats us to his unique blend of tech-step atmospheres and razor sharp sound design.
The A-side, ‘Cardinal’ stirs up thick clouds of ferric dust, a whirlwind of hand crafted percussion and mind bending synthesis, seemingly on the brink of a drop that never quite arrives, this one is a masterful excercise in reserve, deadly in a club too!
Flip it over for the paranoid suspense thriller ‘Domino Theory’, built around a wandering arppegiated sequence which opens up into full Panovision landscapes halfway through, powered by weighty kicks and dense layers of percussion. This is the standout track for us, absolutely class stuff.
First release on what is set to be one of the most interesting labels out of the UK underground, Batu is in a class of his own right now.
