Our good mate Batu drops a long overdue 12 on his own, ever excellent Timedance label. Now on it’s 8th release and getting better each time, the label’s formidable roster of artists are forging their own sound, pushing UK techno forward at a rate.
Trademark staccato perc and metallics on the top side title track, giving way to whip-cracking snares and a very DJ friendly arrangement make this one a pleasure in the mix. Stripped right back to the bone, making the individual elements work their hardest.
Flip it for our percy cut – ‘Groundwork’, panoramic atmospheres harnessed by a fractured kick pattern are propelled by urgent, glassy hi-hats and some more of those ever on point Batu percussion, absolutely superb gear! ‘Whisper’ rounds the EP off, the most broken of all three cuts, hinting at some of his earlier work in it’s arrangement and sonic palette, it’s oozing that west country, post dubstep techno sound that we love so much here at RwdFwd.
Another supreme plate from the label that is unstoppable right now – buy the ticket, take the ride…
