Beneath is back! Almost a year ago to the day he released WIP on the painfully limited split 12 for Berceuse Heroique and it’s been quiet since then.

Thankfully he has returned to the label for a proper double pack of his signature blend of darkside UK funky mutations. A beautiful package this one, two heavyweight plates and a lush picture sleeve and poster penned by Horfee (check his Tumblr for some proper visual treats).

Opening with 50-50, laced with acid and snaking delay tails before giving way to a mammoth sub note and glassy pads that counter that 303 induced madness that preceded it – highest grade gear this one.

‘Freeze’ harks back to the earliest Beneath productions that he distributed on his hand-stamped ‘No Symbols’ label quite some years ago now, serotonin depleted funky that has swapped it’s bright lead lines for much more sinister atmospherics – just as intoxicating as it was when he first unleashed it on us and just as vital now.

Onto plate 2 for the whirlwind of madness that is encapsulated in ‘Soho’, a pressure cooker of loose percussion, 303 lines and mammoth sub. The Shlocky EP closes with the neurofunk influenced spaces of ‘Future Shock’, weaving an icy melody around that crushing bass weight and stainless percussion.

ave it!
