2005 Blakamix Intl steppers cuts with Dennis Nolan and killerrr Mixman dubs –

10″ selection from the Blakamix box sent here from HQ, this one features long time Blakamix Posse member (check that 1986 Dancehall Thriller LP we have up on our shop here too) Dennis Nolan on vocals, and features rhythms produced by, and backed with (unmissable) respective dub versions from the Blakamix boss Mixman.

A side features Dennis Nolan’s ‘Why Wicked Man’ – a cry against injustice in this world and against the greed of the phew that controls the fate of too many.
Next up on this side, it’s version excursion time, and Mixman strips the rhythm to its deep, stepping core, dub mixed with masterful restraint and well executed slider fades and well measured effects chains. Deep, meditative UK Dub style, pure class.

Flipside, Dennis Nolan delivers another call for power in the struggle of the black community (and effectively black & white unity) in a system that has been holding back black people by means of ignorance and greedy, self serving oppressors for far too long.

Once again, the version is pure gold on this one. Listen to those phasing percussive elements driving the fast paced rhythm section, heavyweight bass and occasional horns, vocal injections and synth stabs, rolling in a determined, meditative style throughout –

The vocals hold the message, and these dub versions cement the power of it all x 10.

This one’s for the heads who know.
