Link up between Detroit’s one and only DJ Stingray and Greece’s Lower Parts imprint, straight fire from start to finish, import business this one.
Uncompromising Motor City electro cuts in three parts (with a tidy remix as well) is the order of the day here. If you’re here, you’re certainly familiar with Stingray’s output to date, all killer no filler.
The topside upholds that ethic in fine style, ‘Acetylcholine’ thumps out some brutish kicks over contrastingly shimmering synth lines and undulating bass, peppered with glassy FX to finish, this one is our percy and one that we’ll be playing for months by the looks of it. ‘Dendrite’ is more fractured, tense and more compatible with some of that top quality UK techno gear around at the moment – there’s hints of electro there of course, but it also hints at more esoteric styles too.
The flip of the plate is altogether more introspective, ‘ErbB4’ wistful melodies floating alongside driving kicks and crisp snares – Kon001 completes the Greek link with his outstanding remix of the B1, really top stuff this record, we like a lot…
