Bristol fire on Hi5ghost’s new label!

It’s really great to see the continuation of dubplate & vinyl culture in Bristol, with experienced selectors, producers and label-heads such as Dubkasm, Peverelist and Pinch still representing the true format of physical music, holding the flame as the newer generation such as Kahn & Neek, Ishan Sound & Jabu continue to uphold this mark of integrity and aesthetic choice…

Since the Bandulu label came to fruition, and their affiliated extended members such as Boofy and Hi5Ghost moved into the foreground with their own imprints, releasing vinyl-only 12″s in true underground stance, we can truly count Bristol as a stronghold for vinyl culture and sticking up for a sustainable music industry.

Hi5Ghost’s latest venture is another fine addition to the stable, and this first release is a very, very promising one indeed.
Whilst we were informed that the musical manifesto will remain open, this first plate delivers straight-up O.G. Grime gullyness, kickstarting with the collaborative ‘Duppy Maker’ and it’s familiar Korg Triton palette (famed for the eski-beat productions of Wiley) this cut is sure to wreak havoc in the dance, with detuned square waves and hi-speed drum edits flinging at your chest soon as the record is placed on the turntable.
The next side presents Hi5Ghosts ‘Teflon’, possibly the most ferocious of the two, a track that has been a staple in Kahn & Neek’s dubplate selection for some months now, fitting right in with the ultra-tough Bristol grime sound that this lot frequent.

The first on Paper Cranes, this release is a collaborative effort between the label-owner Hi5Ghost, and Trends…
Both sides are killer, no holds-barred – instant rewind material.

Comes in a hand-numbered and stickered edition of 300 – vinyl-only.

Mastered and cut by Lewis @ Stardelta Mastering.
