A family affair from the Livity Sound sister label, polishing up a couple of already sparkling gems.
Amor Fati is arguably one of the most devastating Hodge productions, twisting a tightly clipped vocal sample around stepping 808s and urgent hi-hats this one rolls in with the weight of a locomotive. Label bossman and occasional sparring partner Pev steps in for a refix and flips things a little differently. Clipping the sample even tighter and lacing the broken drums with shimmering synths he retools the track into something more introspective which evolves throughout the 6 minute duration – a remix in the truest sense of the word, making full use of the original and adding a unique flavour to it.
Man like Bruce is next in line for the refix treatment, his track ‘Tilikum’ gets a reshaping from Hodge. Taming the elasticated original and crafting it into a subtle and mesmerising techno trip. Lush pads and crafty use of delay work in harmony with the textures of the original, very classy indeed.
