Two classic cuts of early Supreme issue on JA Pressing –
Produced by the godfather of soundsystem – Clement Dodd, on the topside of this 7″, we have Lloyd Williams heartfelt cover version of Syl Johnson’s soul classic ‘Because I Am Black’ –
if you listen closely you will be able to hear a cover version of a sample that Wu Tang have used in one of their tunes ‘Hollow Bones’…serious stuff.
Flip it for a more lighthearted and upful cut, with the veteran Dennis Alcapone in early Deejay style over a different rhythm…
‘Nanny Version’ is full of life and musical excitement, jamaican style.
‘Tell yuh bout it!’
These 7″s contain a bit of crackle, they’re jamaican pressings, and very limited at that… check soundclips for reference!
