Yet another killer little disc from the geniuses that are the Sofrito label.
The A side is occupied by Michael Bagoé, a Paris-resident who spent his formative years moving variously between Senegal, Martinique and Côte D’Ivoire. Here he presents an uptempo sax-driven dancefloor number supported by a chorus of rhythm guitars and a Latin-influenced vocal effort, exerting a heartily original style onto a well-travelled Sofrito formula.
Les Hamsters occupy the B side, keeping the tempo up-swinging and using jangling rhythm guitars to similar effect to Michael Bagoé. Here though they are supported and transformed by a psychedelic lead guitar, and a more anthemically driven vocal effort completes the arrangement for maximum fun times.
