Pecker – Pecker Power

Vinyl (LP + insert)
Rush Hour [RH-STORE JPN 5]
£19.99

Cult Japanese reggae LP from 1980, a collectors item that’s now thankfully been reissued via Amsterdam’s Rush Hour Records –
featuring an all-star lineup from Kingston – Sly, Robbie, Augustus Pablo, Soul Syndicate, Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett, Scully Simms… you name them.

Beautifully recorded and mastered example of a cosmic-style dub LP, Pecker Power journeys between Tokyo and Kingston, and finds a middle ground that takes in some of that typical 80’s japanese delicate feel for popular sound, and the tough, bass- and vibes-heavy sound of Jamaican reggae, played by the finest in the game (even almost 40 years on!).

If you’re looking for a reggae record that stands apart for it’s sombre, yet uplifting tone and exquisite sense for odd, outer space kind of astro-travelling atmosphere, extra-wide reverbs & delays washed over galaxian synths… Then do yourself a favour and stick this in your record box for future enjoyment.

Packaged in an impeccable manner, with extra insert, too… Check that sleeve!
