Hessle kick off 2016 with new blood from Brizzle.

It’s sometimes frustrating how slow the Hessle releases come through the door, but, when they do come around all is immediately forgiven as they’re always so bloody good. This three tracker from Bristol’s own Ploy is no exception and has been on the office turntable a lot the last couple of days.

Up top is the claustrophobic techno trip of ‘Salsa One Five’, a dead noisy and densely packed monochromatic landscape this one, spliced with sonar pings and delicate hi-hats for devastating results in the blend. It’s tense, it’s fresh it’s nothing but essential this one.

On the flip we have ‘Move Yourself’ and ‘Helix’, the former is a brittle workout that wouldn’t sound out of place on Frozen Border, working crisp drums around sidechained atmospherics and delayed chords. The latter is a freeform exploration of textures and slower tempos for head twisting and skilled DJs.

Our hat’s come off to Ploy for this one, it’ll sound just as fresh in a decade as it does now, straight ace material.
