Another instalment of archival recordings on the excellent ‘Death is Not The End’ label – This time around they explore 12 recordings made by the Rev. Edward W. Clayborn, made for the Vocalion label in the mid 20s (the very same label that released ‘Strange Fruit’ by Billie Holiday, no less).

These are unpolished gems taken straight from the shellac recordings, lots of crackle, lots of hiss, perfectly suited to these simple yet captivating tracks, no drums just guitars and vocals, 45 minutes of real blues music, immediately comparable to Robert Johnson.
