1: Sluggy - Dont' Want To Be A Shotta / Original Mix
2: Raw Rub A Dub
3: Knight Rider - Beat Of The Drums
4: Digital English All Stars - Drum Beat Dub
Tuff soundsystem tunes, vocal and dubwise! –
We’re aware that autotuned vocals can be hit and miss, they can split opinions, but in this instance it does the trick very nicely – Sluggy’s style suits the robotic undertones, emphasising his unique tone and melody.
The original Sluggy Ranks steps forward with another conscious lyric – reminding us of his seminal ‘Cocaine’ track, that was released on the Diamond imprint in the 80’s for example.
This time along, Sluggy’s voice strides over a rumbling soundsystem cut, produced by Digital English, and mixed by Philip Smart.
Kicking off the first side, we have a dub plate mix, followed by the original 2001 cut, then straight into a fierce dubwise version… The ‘Raw Rub A Dub’ – ready to shake up your speakerbox.
On the other side ‘Knight Rider’ steps into the booth, with his vocal delivery for the same rhythm – ‘Beat Of The Drums’ is followed by it’s subsequent dub cut ‘Drum Beat Dub’… Another heavyweight version.
Turn it up and let the vibes turn up the place.
