Cylon hits it out of the park yet again. They trade in minimalist, low-slung rollers and this EP from relative newcomers Space Matters doesn’t break the mould, but surmises this style in such a compelling way that it doesn’t even matter.

All four tracks approach the brief in a unique way, with Flat Planet letting heavily swung dread-fuelled kicks drive it forward, while The Brunt calls to mind the atmospherics of Source Direct in their Oblivion guise – check that pad for confirmation – and marries it to another grooving percussive line, this time filled out by syncopated rim-shots and hi – hats too.

Brilliant stuff.
