WR Dubs continue their split 12” series with this double-punch from relative newcomers T.A.R and VGB.

Occupying the A side is Loonie, T.A.R’s offering. A tight triple-time rhythm section drives the languid splashes of vox and sirens. It’s an uncanny sonic world, heavily indebted to the aesthetics of early dubstep while remaining current. The bassline switch-up after the opening 16 of the drop deserves a mention on here too, as well as a wheel up or two in the dance…

VGB takes over proceedings on the flip. All ears here are on the Vangelis-circa-Bladerunner melody. It’s an awesome attention-grabber, soaring and brimming with emotion.

It’s always refershing to hear new producers avoid the trappings of the contemporary scene zeitgeist, a feat that T.A.R and VGB both pull off incredibly well. Big stuff!
