Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry – The Mighty Upsetter! Kung Fu Meets The Dragon…

Wicked & wild dub LP from around 1975, this is the 1995 reissue with two extra tracks that didn’t feature on the original press back in the 70s…

Musically, this is superb stuff, as you’d expect from the Upsetter band –

Augustus Pablo on melodica, Boris Gardiner on Bass, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith on Lead Guitar, Bobby Ellis and Dirty Harry on Horns, Lee Perry and Skully on percussion.

Injected with a nice amount of Perry-style sound effects… From screams to cowbells, these tracks contain all that Lee Perry lifeforce & madness that we come to love.
This one reminds us of some of the best Impact All Stars material from around this time, with harmonica and melodica coming with some really nice solemn southern USA styles at times… Musically top!

Words from The Mighty Upsetter himself: “Good evening and greetings to you people of the universe, this is Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry – madder than the mad, dreader than the dread, redder than the red, dis yah one heavier than lead. We are at the turntabel terranova, it means we are taking over.”
