Original Press, Locks 7″ from 1975 –
Real nice slice of foundation here, from the little known Veronica Adams on a Mighty Clouds rhythm. The Ska is still very much alive in this tune, but the bassline and the stripped back dub approach are a sign of the times and the times to come in the later half of that special decade of Jamaican music.
There’s an edge of US Soul in the vocal and the way the guitar is implemented here, making this one tasty crossover piece of reggae. This one is for all the heads out there who like to dig a little deeper with their selection.
Believe In What You See graces the A Side, and it’s followed by the mighty Wiseman Dub on the flipside.
The centre label art is eye-catching too, very dread.
Good pressings, sounding clean and nice considering the age.
