After killer drops for the big bad Livity Sound and of course the heavy debut on Mechanical Reproductions last year, Via Maris steps correct with the t’umpers for Beneath’s Mistry label.

Up top you have the heavyweight “Shelleys”, naming the EP with arguably his hardest club track to date. This one absolutely punishes on a club rig, with the heavy broken kick pattern providing a bed for some of the most paranoid and intense synthesis we have heard in a while… Surefire movement in the rave with this one.

On the flip you have the understated, vibe-led “Toys” sounding like Boards Of Canada circa 2018 as an eerie lead line twists and undulates whilst a cushioned sub envelopes the listener. This one is a gem!

Last but not least we have “Miasma”, the most tooly track on the EP and a firm favourite dub of some of the scenes key DJs, sounding like a stripped back Pev track with a gnarly mid bass and dubstep reminiscent atmospheres. This track was built for the blend, and we expect to hear it do-the-do on dancefloors for some time to come!

Killer stuff from Via Maris, another solid, solid release.
Highly recommended for all who want to understand and ride the current wave of Bristol club gear.
