Re-issue of a total underground classic, roaring from the fringes of everything in 1986.

Five copies / no restock.
Purchased direct from the band just for you, the viewers at RWDFWD (and from what we can tell, we're the only UK store to ever stock it.....)
ONO are a revelation, pure and simple: the world's only no-wave/industrial gospel band (go on.....name me another). The most important band you never heard of; bellowing sermons on racism, homophobia and historical trauma in gusts of feedback from atop the American gothic trash heap. Or "Exploring Gospel’s Darkest Conflicts, Tragedies and Premises" as they put it. Think Diamanda Galas meets Screaming Jay Hawkins at a Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence cookout (and yeah The Beatnigs may as well be there swiping corndogs)
Hold onto your hat Dorothy, cos you're in for a bumpy ride. Opener 'Were You There When They Crucified My Lord' is a slave spiritual re-imagined with waves of scraping noise and travis' operatic post-gospel histrionics. 'Ashley Knight's' an industrial drum-machine murder ballad complete with liturgical organs and fluttering no-wave guitars. Oz is a dubbed out TG-esque landscape of failed radio transmissions and sax squall.
With early support from Ministry's Al Jourgenson - Ono brought their theatrical psychodrama and improvisation / organized chaos to Missions and churches, music halls and gallerys - until they quietly imploded for 30 years. But that's not the end of the story......stay tuned to Rwdfwd for more....
Were ONO the greatest American band ever? On Ennui they captured everything disgusting and beautiful about that special kind of nation that eats its own children. God bless the fucking flag.
