Big tune from Selah Collins for the Unity Sounds posse, Ruddy & Redeye on production -

1987 London digital dancehall supreme -

This is London's answer to Kingston's 'digital explosion' dancehall era that happened around the time of game-changing hits such as Prince Jammy$ Sleng Teng, brought on by the use of digital effects units, drum machines and, last but not least, casio and yamaha keyboards & synthesizers.

'Pick A Sound' by Selah Collins - served here in dubplate cut form, with extra fx blasts and wheelups for added energy (as far as we're aware these cuts never got released until many years later, in 2010) - showcases that fresh Unity Sounds vibe that the crew bought to London (and beyond) dancehalls in the 80's, standing tall amongst their Jamaican peers on the other Island, and bringing the digital dancehall style to London full of vibes and confidence -
many soundboys got buried with ease to these tunes, no doubt.

Comes served with the vocal cut, and the Egyptian Rock riddim on the flip.
Completely crucial business, at once 'of a time' and 'timeless' - a combination that is not often achieved in retrospective.

Pressed on to a blue 45 via the Ruddy & Redeye Original Sounds imprint.
