A serious, serious gem of 13 sprawling dark ambient dirges from Krikor Kouchian, serving a DIY issue of a (fxcking amazing) soundtrack he made for a documantary called 'THE WRITER AND THE MURDERER: THE ADVERSARY' - ...

Musically, the release hits - in Krikor's own words - somewhere between 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Badalamenti'... And we couldn't agree more.

And we got this thing on offer to you as an upfront exclusive no less - we are the only shop outside of Japan that has this right now.
It's not even on bandcamp. Mad respect and honourable love to Krikor for the hook up.

Reaching truly tearjerking levels of downer-bliss a la Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks) and maintaining a haunting kind of warbled warmth, there's a false sense of (in)security that leads us into shadow worlds, unveiling towering horrors, but without going for a perhaps obvious oppressive horror theme - it's a deftly cinematic, but understated journey into minor melodics and E:MU sampler pitch trickery that'll fully satisfy any Twin Peaks fan itching for the worthwhile Season 3 soundtrack that never happened, lovers of O$VMV$M's darker side, Hype Williams, and more traditional noir-ish film ambience, with a splash of dubwise (Krikor knows).

Seriously, we listened to this on loop since we got the tape sent to us.
NOW, not least - we have to admit to listening to the soundtrack (several times, as mentioned) before we checked out the backstory of this documentary...
A truly chilling, jaw-droppingly evil story that looks into an example of the darkest side of human behaviour. Greed, deception, and psychopathic murder...  Highlighting the story of Jean-Claude Romand's killings in 1993 (and 1988, surely), his 18 years in prison and now roaming freely again (that's pretty mad to think about, when we compare it to other 'lifers' stories.)

We have to say that the context makes for an even more chilling listen, with this reality-check in mind, and it's soundtrack leading us into some even deeper thinking, rather than just drifting.

Heavy mood stuff. This is no lightweight soundtrack - but so masterfully executed, and fully, fully worth listening to for anyone with an incline towards darker moods of music... 100% wicked.

Printed tape onbody, printed inlay.
