Larry 'Bruce' McCarthy on the buttons once more, dropping his latest offering on the Poorly Knit label, ran by him, DIY style, here out of Bristol, just down the road from us - and dropped off to us a few weeks ago. We fiiiinally got them up on the site now, and we're very glad about that - this one follows up on a really great run of productions that swerve comfortably between his dancefloor roots and a more & more experimental approach honed in recent years, undoubtedly fused by the kind of cross pollination of styles we see and hear happening here in Bristol, around that studio in the old police cells for example...

Each cut hits in a unique way, and touches on different themes - from delirious underwater swoon, to slow-motion bass-morph expedtions and a D Ham vocal injected (yess shouts to o.g. bristol-bronx legend D Ham) bounced techno flex to finish things off - this record is truly versatile, and truly solid.

Here's what was said about the record by someone who probably put it better than we could:

"The third drop into the Poorly Knit ocean, sees Bruce washed ashore with three silted and barnacled explorations into dub techno, ambient and beyond.

Seizing the microphone for the first time since his sophomore album Not Ready For Love, Bruce weaves a seductive siren song with Golden Water Queen, treading sweet nothings into the bubbling abyss. Sinking further into the deep, The Hand fizzes and froths at the fringes of nothingness, born from the wishing of a softer and more insidious soundtrack to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Then finally the waves are parted with DHam’s Jam, bobbing along 8 minutes of bouncing kick and prancing percussion, pulling you with peaceful buoyancy along the dancefloor, into “the zone.”

With a continued emphasis on the importance of physical medium within dance music, the 12” is pressed with eco-friendly “Eco-Mix” reground PVC and sleeved in DIY lino printed sleeves."

Thanks to real honest business attitude, we can offer this one for a real-good price too - shouts to Bruce for keeping real, and being mindful about the state of the music and vinyl industry - come check our site for the other Poorly Knit / Bruce bits too!
