Grove - Queer + Black (Big & Bad Edition)
The Big & Bad vinyl edition of Grove's debut release 'Queer + Black', is now pressed up on wax previously unreleased extra cuts & remixes, served with printed sleeve & printed inner, housing nine slamming, versatile vocal-led dancefloor tracks from Bristol's latest rising talent.
"Queer + Black serves as an introduction to Grove's experience of the world. Tunes to get sweaty in the dance to, as well as contemplate sexuality, class + race.
The range of influences for the tracks span from the power felt in decolonising our spaces (with the toppling of the Edward Colston statue), to the feeling of euphoria during a rave for queer people of colour, to calling for a focus on how landlordism + classism is keeping inequality rife in society. All soundtracked by dark dance, hip-hop and dancehall-infused beats."
What we hear is a forward thinking, high energy type of versatile dance music, with plenty of lyrical attitude, and plenty of musical twists & turns. A mash-up of styles that recalls elements of 90's breakbeat energy, as well as contemporary dancehall, rap and modern rave styles, all in one highly infectious, fluid run of tracks with a subtle touch of hyperactive pop arrangement that makes for an extra enjoyable listen - keeping full momentum and dynamic throughout - this one's packed with energy and well up for making noise.
Big up Grove and the crew. Make sure you check the latest Grove piece 'Spice' on Bokeh Versions too, it's a belter also.
Edition of 500, with printed sleeve and printed inner, released via Spinny Nights x Memorials Of Distinction.
