Don Piezo joins the Idle Hands ranks with a trio of sub tropical rinsers that fall somewhere between that darkside UK techno that was pioneered by the likes of Beneath etc and the more loping styles of Gantz.
It's a clear winner from start to finish this one - not sticking to any set formula the EP opens with the muggy chug of 'Opeq' which half buries an excellent snare in layers of saturated hiss and gently distorted rides - gradually building over the near 7 minute duration, swelling lead lines that then fall away to nowt but drums and textured atmospherics - top a top stuff.
'Novemilauno' kicks off the flip with some seriously fractured drum work and mean as you like subs, countered by lush pads and textures it treads a line between that darkside sh!t we dig so much and dub techno! A canny mix which is followed up on the closing title track 'Lume'.
Hard to pin this one down and that's just what makes it so good.
