Always a pleasure to hear new Andy Mac material, and a nice surprise to see him grace a 7" for our friends at ZamZam!

This disc is another fine representation of Andy Mac's earthly style, rooted & grounded in dubwise technique and injected with the looping, hypnotic tendencies of raw drum machine & sampler styles found in o.g. house, hip hop, dancehall and techno.
Using the mixing desk, saturated tape-delays and his trusty roland sampler as weapons of choice in his remote studio set-up in the depths of Cornwall (his seaside retreat from Bristol) Andy Mac's sound is always human and organic, and demands instant-bogle and hip-wigglin'.

The A-side, 'Dawner' is an infectious dancehall meets dub-house affair that leaves filtered dub chords anchored in a mesh of tape wash, organ & a whole heap of rhythmical interplay -
It's an instantly loveable tune, but also one of those ones that you will feel a great connection with once it's back on the stereo for a second, third, fourth time. Proper niceness.

Flip the 45' and you are invited deep into the jungle, somewhere near a stream (could it be
Cornwall?) with mysterious nyabinghi drums playing from behind the trees, and a stationary sampler sequencing guitar chords through the echo-box, all blasting out of a lonely hi-fi, no one in sight, playing this song for those who came to discover.

Killer disc, and so perfect on a nifty '45!

Lovely artwork, as always, by Tracy Harrison aka Polygon Press and half of ZamZam alongside family man E3.
Limited edition, strictly on wax - cherish it!
