Inaugural release on Kuedo's new label Knives channels six tracks of dystopian surrealism from Lithuanian producer J G Biberkopf.

Whilst only being six tracks this release feels every bit an album, the breadth of ideas explored here and the confidence with which they are executed is astounding, as Biberkopf transports you through several expertly realised sonic worlds. Whether it be the arcane opener "Air. Coltan. Carbon. Lithium" with its sci-fi cinematic sound design, enigmatically building to silvery Asiatic twangs, or the staggered palpitations and spectral gloss of "Age Of Aquarius" coming off like a collab between Amit and Raime!

Then there are tracks like the other-worldly "Weakness" with its post-internet references and glacial soundscape, it operates in a similar realm to Holly Herndon and Software Recordings. But it never strays into gratuitously academic music as the syncopated beats and searing leads reek of the current wave of innovative grime instrumentals doing the rounds (Mumdance and the like!)

This is a very knowing record, a deep understanding of texture and audio processing combined with a keen ear for the underground has culminated in a prodigious effort.

Cop this and get some heads scratching in the dance!
