The latest instalment of the Cold project is from Latvian newcomer W3C, whose brutalist sonic constructs are presented as ‘The Atmospheric EP’, opening with the gritblasted basses and sparse drum arrangements of the title track before shifting into the greyscale industrial textures of ‘Bile’ that almost sounds like a collaboration between Regis & Mumdance.

‘Prometheus’ is as titan as its name suggests - howling synthesis frames pneumatic percussion which threatens to implode at any minute: a downright terrifying trip through the outskirts of the techno wasteland. If you’re a fan of Mundance, Logos and Shapednoise’s The Sprawl project you’ll dig this. The EP closes with the more introspective melodics of ‘Fire Walk With Me’.

A spectacular debut from a clearly talented producer - if the Cold track record is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
