Deadly deejay styles from the original micwoman Ranking Ann, collaborating with Mad Professor once again, released a year after the excellent 'A Slice of English Toast' in 1983, this (in our opinion even better) follow up here was served up via his Ariwa imprint in the Orwellian year of 1984 - and it shows in the extra-paranoid lyrics and the themes that come up in some of the songs - from Pentagon to Soviet Union... amongst other themes such as poverty and 'immigration problems' under Tory rule (sound familiar?) - as well as more usual themes such as in 'Stop Romance In The Dance' of course -
All trainspotters take note of a nice flip by Ranking Ann of Billy Boyo's sleazy lyrics on early 80s Volcano Posse hit 'One Spliff A Day' too.

big up Ariwa for bringing these o.g. Ranking Ann pieces back into circulation - it's always good to hear a micwoman rock it like she does, leading the way 'since day' with these deejay tunes doing the London/JA reggae soundsystem scene proud.
Heavyweight sprinkles of dub production feature here on some classic, and original riddims too, of course, courtesy of the Prof... And as usual, the artwork on this is tip-top.
