Blim & Pev - Over Here (REMIXES)
After the timely re-presses of the essential Skull Disco records, Apple Pips do the right thing and let those late to the party in by repressing this total gem.
The second release on Apple Pips, back in 2008 (remember that?) was a hint at what was to come after the label had kicked off with ‘All I Have Is Memories’ from Martyn.
The label blew minds again by releasing a dub techno rework of a Skull Disco banger. ‘Over Here’ was originally tucked away on the B-side of ‘Soundboy’s Ashes Get Hacked Up And Spat Out In Disgust’ EP, hand crafted by Appleblim And Peverelist and treated to a (double) reworking by the one and only Brendon Moller.
The A-side remix is a real masterpiece, remaining faithful to the original’s delayed stabs and rich bass, and reshaping them into a flawless slab of dub techno as only Mr. Moller knows how. Those lush chords are treated to subtle filtering and vast delays, filling out the entire width of the mix and massaging hearts and minds with rich bass weight - In case you couldn’t tell, we are huge fans of this one - a real treat for the ears and a record that has never been far from the bag since it’s release 6 odd years ago…
If you dig any of the dub techno greats from Basic Channel, Substance & Vainqueur, Maurizio and the like, we urge you to get this on your turntable ASAP.
