Blood Shanti - Uprising / Tears Of Fire / Dub
Wicked to have this fresh, rootical steppers disc on Blood Beat, the side imprint from original don dada Blood Shanti (brother of Aba Shanti-I, and part of the Shanti-Ites and of course running the great Falasha / Aba record imprints for years now, out of London.
Uprising, on the A side, keeps a subtle element of Ska running through a roots rock reggae and steppers lens, with the soundsystem, and full volume / full upliftment in mind.
There's always something about the harmonies and melodies Blood Shanti conjures up with synths and keyboards, over a tough drum and bass section. The sweet, yet crushingly heavy Aba Shanti-I sound, basically.
Flip the disc to find our favourite piece on this disc - one which we were real glad to see being pressed up on wax. Tears Of Fire. We won't say no more, just please turn it up and 'feel the vibes' as blood shanti would probably say.
And the dub.... Killer of course.
