Sarah's, Satins and Blades (The Way We Found Each Other) is a limited-edition cassette currently presented as part of Lemons, Laws & Secret Doors: A Hastings Queer History Collective Exhibition at Hastings Museum. Drawing on newsletters produced by the Campaign for Homosexual Equality Hastings Group (CHASTE) and the 1066 Gay Community Organisation between 1974 and 1989, the work is presented on a medium contemporary to these publications, echoing the routes they once travelled: from room to room, hand to hand.

The A-side brings together readings from the original newsletters, reflections from members of the Hastings Queer History Collective, and fragments of fast-changing music. Announcements, advice columns and calls to action sit alongside personal testimony, tracing how queer people lived, met, organised and communicated across generations.

Expanding beyond the exhibition, the cassette lingers in voice as a space of memory, exchange and connection. As both object and document, it proposes an archive that can move again: rewound, replayed and passed on through new networks of listening. Following the exhibition, the cassette will also enter Hastings Museum's permanent collection.

The B-side features a composition developed during a residency at Piedicavallo Festival, Italy. Written during a difficult period, it reflects on care, friendship, recovery and connection, offering a fitting coda to a work centred on queer resilience and collective memory.
