 Re-Run for the 2k26 gang!

Rising like smoke through the creaks of the floorboard above the echo chamber that caught fire when the ghost of Lee Perry summoned the Disco Devil. HLM38's tape is back in business for low-key bristol institution - for those who know - PLAQUE.

We're glad we can repent for our sins of somehow missing the first run of this tape on here, despite being big fans (&friends) of the PLAQUE label as well as HLM38 / Notte Brigante's work, and can now present this tape to our dear RWDFWD kru (that's you btw).

We'd recommend getting a copy of this fine, fine cassette including all the 11 cuts on the reels. You won't regret it. Especially if you happen to dig the sound of burnt out dub vibrations, skewed melodics and rolling drum tracks that let the bassline undulate underneath like the swell of the ocean, steady and with a mighty, yet fluid force.

Ferric vocal pitch fvckery and highly amplified keyboard stabs go head to head with the elasticity of the reverb's spring being tested to max effect on HLM38's self titled album. A heady concoction of nightmarish dream sequences where tension equals release, and release equals tension - no letting up, but don't worry it's all under control, just let the music do the healing and get used to the fact that this music ain't no softporn soundtrack... This one is streetwise, kind of gangster, but in a more cool & deadly, old school kind of way. Equally at home in the backstreets of Kingston, London or Paris, but only at night, when the lack of light conceals all necessary secrets.

Rumour has it that there'll be more HLM38 gear on PLQ soon... so make sure you're up to date when the time comes, and get your fix of this piece before it's too late, again.
