Powell - Deathofrave002
Repress of one of the finest Powell releases so far (and it really is hard to choose) Totally uncompromising from the packaging to the music - four post-punk reductions are on offer here, opening with the dilapidated greyscale disco of ‘A Band’ and closing with the warped synthesis of ‘Acid’ on the A side.
‘Rider’ opens the flip side, sounding delightfully like a very fuzzy Fugazi meets Jimmy Lynch recording session tape left running while the attendees were unaware.
Saving the best till last however is ‘Oh New York’, this is a bit special, proper drums and washed out guitar trip sounding like Gang Of Four on a vicious comedown.
