Simon Shreeve - The Healing Bowl
5 hybrid tracks of dank and eyes down UK underground mutations from Simon Shreeve, who finds a perfect home on the Birmingham blueprint drafter and techno institution - Downwards.
After more than ten years behind the boards crafting some of the most vital UK sonics as part of the D&B partnership Kryptic Minds on Frequency, Defcom and their own Osiris label and later shifts to Dubstep with Swamp 81 and Tectonic, his credentials are well in order.
Since quitting the partnership and branching out onto the almighty Tresor, Shreeve has distilled that decade of dread and sub into ‘The Healing Bowl’. Crafting half stepping, brutalist drum patterns with that unmistakable post-Virus atmosphere that defined mid 90s Neurofunk, The title track sets the tone for all 5 tracks here, metallic hits, urgent hi-hats over halftime kicks and that palpable sense of dread that can only be teased from the filters of a Virus synth.
Immediately comparable to the likes of Regis, Rhythmic Theory and Raime - a product of the UK underground through and through.
Served with litho printed A6 insert.
