Essential Theo Parrish masterclass business from around 1999, back in press and still sounding mighty mighty unlike anyone else really... Both sides are too crucial.

Topside, we got Overyohead, arguably the one that people will remember most on this record, but in our opinion there's no need to compare - both cuts slap just right, in a juxtaposed kind of way.
This one opens with a perfectly lifting lo-fi string section before letting the drums rise up against a tape-warble - a kind of genius vibe switch if you ask us.. by the time those percs come scratching at your door, it's a party... 12mins of VIBE... Heads down shoulders up style, legs moving and swaying, and grooving, tears jerking when the string section comes back at you and fades out over those low-pitched re-tuned rhodes and a piano loop full of that restrained funk.

This is real deal deep house business, not the type of deep house for post2020 tech bro business staff parties though, that real raw o.g. undiluted detroit sh*t!

As with much of Theo Parrish's stuff, his tunes got that unimitable swing and the vibe goes way deeper than your average thing. Hella dub inside too, and the B side proves that point once more. From those crunchy off-beat snares to the endless-echo reverberations on that dimly-lit pads that creeps in on Dance Of The Drunken Drums, as the funk'd drum rolls become omnipresent - the chug is very sexy and mysterious on this one, trust... Around 8 mins of full absorption and gentle, yet fully driving release. By the time that rhodes starts bleeping at you and the bassline rolls in towards the end, if you were really listening correctly, you'll have reached new heights in your mind, body and soul - straight up, this one could go on forever.

... yeah the price of this 12" is a bit painful (US import, inflation etc etc) but damn, it's worth whatever you pay to be honest...
