EU Order info
Unfortunately, the UK is no longer part of the EU - This means that certain shipments sent to addresses there from us may be subject to tax and / or import duty - All orders sent from RWDWD are sent ‘DDU’ - That is, duty unpaid - any import tax and/or duty is the sole responsibility of the buyer.
If you would like to use our reserve function to group several orders into one large shipment, we can arrange for it to be sent tax and duty pre-paid so you don’t have to worry about it at a later date - Contact us for more information.
We got a box of this mammoth double 12" rework collection, bringing together twelve (12!) artists -- namely: Peaking Lights, Jlin, Céline Gillain, Transistorcake, Sagat, Beton Brut, Legowelt, Ossia, DJ Marcelle, Hypnoskull, The Hafler Trio and Annelies Monseré -- to remix a 1981 piece called 'Minimalize' by (cult belgian new wave / experimental musician) Walter Verdin.
Inside, you'll find an expertly curated selection of differing reworks, spanning a whole host of inspired versions - from industrial dubwise, to grime, to trance / wave / gabber, synth-laden electro, footwork, and deep hushed experimental minimalism.
Cut and mastered to a very fine degree, across two 12"s, and served in a fittingly minimalistic sleeve art, including insert lyric poster - this one is a real nice package - we dare say you do get your money's worth here, in terms of quality control and culture-spanning archival work.
"‘Minimalize Your Reworks’ features contributions from a wide range of musicians.
An attempt to give you a description, here I go:
Peaking Lights delivers a motorik manifesto for lost 80’s kids with nostalgia for coin up games at a desolated Luna Park. Stripped down demented disco to keep the heartbeat in a trance.
Jlin injects the old school vibe with a shot of firing future footwork reshaping it in a dazzling abstract bass buzzer.
Céline Gillain sculpts Verdin's mantra into a brand new story dribbling between deadpan bubblegum dance hall and tongue in cheek wordy rappinghood.
A slow burning technicolor dream fading into a throbbing new ecstatic reality is maybe the best way to describe Transistorcake's translation of the original composition.
Electronic body music of a Blade Runner generation chasing a Stranger Things reality in an upside down world: Sagat's version explores new horizons for sure.
Beton Brut goes for the short sharp shock and flips Walter's analogue tape advice into an insane grimey gabbercore classic for the year 2525.
That's around the same time era where you can find the spirit of Legowelt's goofy robotic interpretation of Minimalize: Star Trekking across the universe, boldly going forward with the vocoder and the 808 until everyone's dancing or at least moving their feet.
Is it an earthquake? Am I having a heart attack? Is this how the light at the end of the tunnel sounds? Only Ossia knows. Together with his vintage echodeck he's exploring and pushing dub & Mego boundaries here. Stretching the Bristol maximum out of the minimum with a thrilling result.
DJ Marcelle takes bass to another level in her Space Invaders Remix, deconstructing and splicing sound into a new form of what could be an anchor point for inzane Johnnies testing and fine-tuning their boombox car sound system.
Patrick Stevens aka the anti-techno warrior aka Hypnoskull slams your brain with an industrial stomper - banging like a 1984 anthem - straight outta George Orwell ghetto.
The Hafler Trio knocks on the doors of perception and enters your sonic soul with hidden subliminal messages like only Andrew McKenzie can.
And Annelies Monseré transcends cosmic minimal frequencies from another dimension into an unknown maximalized spectrum. Just with her voice and harmonium she creates acoustic shoegaze and a hauntingly hypnotizing mantra of 8 minutes and 10 seconds. "
